Agricultural Area Plan

The District of Coldstream has developed an Agricultural Area Plan, the primary thrust of which is to establish clear policies that serve to protect and promote agriculture while preserving the rural character of Coldstream.  The intent is to amend the Official Community Plan to support the Agricultural Area Plan so that both plans are consistent and mutually supportive.  Subsequent zoning, subdivision or other bylaw amendments would follow OCP adoption.

The Agricultural Area Plan is managed by the Agriculture Advisory Committee of Council.  The Committee consists of one representative from Council, one from the Advisory Planning Commission, one from Coldstream Ranch, two representatives from the farming/agriculture community, one representative from the residential community at large, one from the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, the consultant, and the Director of Development Services.  The Committee will terminate upon completion of the Agricultural Area Plan.

This Agricultural Area Plan was funded in part by the Investment Agriculture Foundation of BC, through Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Advancing Canadian Agriculture and Agri-Food (ACAAF) program, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands.
