OPEN BURNING - SPRING OF 2010

An open burning period for parcels 2 ha (4.94 acres) or larger, with an approved burning permit, and only on days when the "Venting Index" is 55 or greater, is scheduled for Monday, March 15, 2010 to Thursday, April 15th, 2010.  Only prunings and non-compostable garden refuse may be burned.  Grass, leaves, unseasoned "green" wood, and any other prohibited material shall not be burned.  Permits can be obtained from the District of Coldstream Municipal Office, at 9901 Kalamalka Road, Coldstream.

AS OF APRIL 16th, 2010, ALL BURNING WILL BE PROHIBITED
UNTIL MARCH 15th, 2011.

Fire Prevention

The District of Coldstream Fire Services and Fire Prevention Bylaw No. 1520 (2.16MB PDF), as amended by Bylaw No. 1542 (60Kb PDF) establishes fire services for the District. The general mandate of the Department is to take all proper measures for the prevention, control and extinguishment of fires, and for the protection of life and property, and the enforcement of all municipal bylaws respecting fire prevention.

The delivery of this service is currently provided by two 25-member paid on-call halls.  The halls are not manned; however, non-emergency contact may be made to:
